All's been scrubbed and staged ...
our best foot forward in every way we can make happen.
Some gorgeous photographs for the online listing have been snapped by Wendy,
capturing the essence of this place we've fondly called home.
The real estate sign spreads the news,
holding court along the roadside.
A lockbox stands at the ready, a willing sentry,
an invitation to turn the key and take it all in.
We eagerly welcome browsing guests,
confident that God has just the right family to make our home their own.
After 21 years, our beloved haven is for sale.
To say I have mixed emotions would be a great big understatement ...

THE TRANSITION JOURNEY ~ AN UNEXPECTED SERIES
Very Funny Guest Welcome Note! Got me Smiling. I am sure your guests will have loads of laughter.
ReplyDeleteYou will need some time readjusting to your new home.
Wow!
Really, I can't imagine how you feel. I know you will be fine as you open your doors and hearts to new friendships.
The Lord is watching over you. Don't be afraid!
God Bless Linda
Yes, this ... 'open your doors and hearts to new friendships.'
DeleteThanks, Ifeoma, for your encouraging words. I pray God will open those doors to new relationships and opportunities to minister His grace. Transitions are a very tender time ...
Linda,
ReplyDeleteI know this must be a slightly sad but nervous and excited time for you but I just LOVE how you documented spiffing up your darling house! Is that welcome stitchwork (I think I just made up a word!) vintage? LOVE it! Linda, I am so blessed to have met you through our online homes and I'm excited to journey with you on this God-sized adventure into your new (for-real) home! xoxo
There was alot of spiffing up to do, trust me, Valerie! But there comes that point where you say 'enough is enough' and let it go and get it on the market.
DeleteYes, that welcome guest stitchwork {nice word!} is from my husband's family ... I think a great aunt or someone like that created it back in the '40s. It's one of my favorite 'things.' The real estate agent was amazed when he saw it because his grandma had done the EXACT same piece back in the day, too.
Small world ...
It is interesting how people differ. Maybe if things had ended differently we would have been sad to leave our former home of 13 years. But we were ready. 21 years holds a ton of memories, but memories you can relive over and over. Praying for your house to sell quickly and your heart to settle just as quickly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the prayer for a quick sale! I think my husband's hoping for a great big bidding war!

In this market, THAT would have to be a God thing, ya know?
Your support is such an encouragement to me, man ...
Oh how I adore your Guest welcome. Praying for the sale of your home. Love that you are taken photos! So many emotions I'm sure. Praying for you, friend. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI adore guests! There, here, wherever!
DeleteThose relationships are what makes life worth living ...
;-}
Oh, this is hard stuff, Linda. :( My parents' house has been on the market for two months now and it's still difficult to drive by and see the "for sale" sign in the yard. Praying your house goes quickly and to just the right family!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, I hear you, Lisa. Even after 2 months there's still something off-kilter there, isn't there.
DeletePraying for you right now!
Major change Linda, wondering what move of God started this change. Praying for you as you let go of something that has shaped your life for years.
ReplyDeleteHe's always inviting us to something deeper, circumstances that will draw us closer to Himself, isn't He, Betty.. Amazing how our faith and trust can be stretched and stretched and stretched ... and not break, but actually get stronger and more resilient in the process.
DeleteThat you're praying is a great grace. Thanks, friend ...
Your embroidery panel is so cute! Whenever we leave a house we once called home, I always pray for a few things: the right family to move in, for them to be good neighbors to the neighbors we left behind, and for them to live and love in the house as fully as we did. I will pray those things for you as you move as well.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are mirroring yours in some of the same ways, Pary. I just KNOW that God has the perfect family in mind ... and that brings a smile to my face. And peace to my heart.

Dear friend, 21 years is a long time, and yet it went by in a blink of an eye, did't it? I'm so thankful that God gave us memories. Give yourself time to process the "goodbye" so that you'll be ready for "hello" -! You'r in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteThe decades are flyin' by, girl, aren't they. Cherishing the memories that remain, grateful for photos ... and for those who gather 'round me whose memories are alot sharper and clearer!

Hi Linda! I just want to fall into that room with the fireplace. I can see you curled up there in the winter, with fire warming your toes. Such a cute welcome for guests too. I hope you're going to bring that along to your new home.
ReplyDeleteI know you must feel so sad at leaving a place that's been home for you for so long. I know you'll be happy in your new digs, and make that your own too. Wherever you go, you always bring your warm, inviting self along. You can't lose with her around.
Cute painter!!

I always love a good fireplace. We do have one in the Cape house, but it'll probably end up with a pellet stove to heat the place. Note to self ... be sure stove has window so I can see the warmth!
DeleteAnd yeah, that painter / window washer / resident jack-of-all-trades is one cute guy. I'll be sure to tell him to check the comments and see your little wink.
;-}
I'm sure it is bittersweet. It's hard to leave a house you've made a home. I hope whomever buys it cherishes and has many sweet memories there as you have. Excited for your new adventure!
ReplyDeleteYes, this is a new adventure! I'm so happy to be sharing the ups and downs with you all. It's making it more alive and meaningful, and for that I am grateful.
DeleteAs ever, I'm so glad you're traveling with me, Alecia ...
;-}
Blessings as you begin this journey of transition - full of bittersweet moments as you say fare-the-well's to people and places. But the adventure that awaits is full of beauty too. Blessings, blessings in this journey!! Loved the Guest Welcome stitching - great!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, Dar. I'm seeing the beauty, the blessings, the anticipation around every corner ... He is so good to have already planned the pathways we're each taking in our lives ...
DeleteTakes the pressure off to plan every second all by ourselves, right?
It is bittersweet, Right, Friend? I tell myself the memories will always be in my heart--
ReplyDeleteBlessings, LInda, as you take the next fork in the road~
Yes, yes, and only He knows where this elusive path will take us ... I trust His guiding hand!
DeleteYou have made many memories and now it is time to move on to make many more.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear about them! :)
Oh, I'm beyond grateful that this little community is sticking with me as we launch this next chapter, Sarah. Thank you for being here so faithfully, my friend!
