A Compelling Invitation

Rest.

Rest.

Rest in God's love.

The only work you are required now to do is to
give your most intense attention to His still, small voice within.

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
my hope comes from Him.

  1. Sure sounds good to me. I have stayed up way too late the last several nights reading a book. I look forward to tomorrow (Friday), my day off, for a day of doing nothing but working out, riding my bike and if forced...cutting my grass. We've had a ton of rain so things are very very green.

    1. If you can get your hands on some goats, Bill, they can take care of the grass and you can go have fun!

      Enjoy ...

  2. Sounds good, but there's still much to do, and the light is going. I'll rest a bit later.

    1. He walks with you as the light is fading. And He holds you close each and every step ...

Close to His heart you are, Andrew. And prayers for you and Barbara continue.

  3. Compelling indeed, my friend. So, why do we keep saying, "In a minute." ? Lifting a prayer for us all, to come away and rest awhile in the sweet arms of Jesus. Have a blessed day.

    1. You put the million dollar question on the table, June --> So, why do we keep saying, "In a minute." ?

Caught me up short with your honesty.

Does He get weary of waiting? Disappointed?

And yet He keeps on offering grace ... He loves us so.

  4. Hi Linda! I wish you moments of blessed rest this holiday weekend, and in the weeks ahead. And even if your body is busy, may your mind be filled with peace.
    Big hugs,

    1. We're busy, but it's a good busy, Ceil.

And then there are those technological blog glitches that need to be attended to. Sigh. Monday afternoon at 4:30!

I wish I could just write and create, ya know?

      Rest, rest, rest.

    1. Thanks for hanging with me and giving the conversation one more chance, Dolly!

I'm bouncing back and forth between the old and new ... and discovering, once again, that God is right in the middle of it all, unchanging!

Sabbath rest to you, friend ...

    1. And a Happy 4th to you, friend! Parade, picnic, fireworks? Whatever and wherever, I hope you're having a blast ...

We're packing up a storm these days ... and are headed out in an hour to a movie with a good friend. If I never see another cardboard box, it'll be too soon!

    2. Your response caused me to chuckle!!! Cardboard boxes will soon be a thing of your past and you will have new boxes of God's calling to unwrap and call your own. Hugs!

    3. 'New boxes of God's calling' ... what an image! He's always inviting us to the next level, isn't He, Mary ...

  7. Ahhhh rest, my friend! I can't seem to get enough these days. One would think after a month off, I would be well rested. Not so. I've actually been in bed sick the last few days. God just wanted me to continue resting I think ;). Our 2 week vacation was one of those family trips that you need a vacation when you get home just to recover. It was highly scheduled.
So good to be back in touch with you, Linda! I hope the move and life are treating you well. I'll have to read through and see what you've been doing since I've been gone. XOXO!

    1. Your so-very-good experience with a month off is a gentle nudge for me to take an online break, Candace. I've done a few of those sabbaticals along the way and found them to be lifesavers.

I think I'm ready to take one thing off my rather full plate right now, even though I love blogging. Will get a post up this week and then let things go for a bit ...

      You're the best!

  8. Coming here, your words and this quote just brought tears to my eyes as I saw the date this was posted. This was the day we had to lay our doggie to rest and the quote couldn't be more perfect. And resting in His peace is now what we are doing. Thank you for this.

    1. Oh Kim, I'm so sorry to hear this news, this loss of your beloved member of your family. All those pet owners around here will resonate with your sadness.

Rest, rest. Yes, my friend ...

Welcome to the table, friend!

This is where we gather and hang out. I'd love for you to pull up a chair and jump right into the conversation. Or simply say 'hello.'

l'll be dropping in to visit you sometime soon ...
