'No one lights a lamp, then hides it in a drawer.
It's put on a lamp stand so those entering the room have light to see where they're going.
Your eye is a lamp, lighting up your whole body.
If you live wide-eyed in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light.
If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar.
Keep your eyes open, your lamp burning, so you don't get musty and murky.
Keep your life as well-lighted as your best-lighted room.'
Luke 11 {The Message}
Precious Lord ~
It's so easy for us to get blase or nonchalant when it comes to our faith. And truth be told, there are more times than we'd care to admit that we've lost that wide-eyed childhood wonder at Your amazing salvation and wondrous daily presence.
Beckon us to gaze at You with a loving adoration that comes from hearts overflowing with gratitude.
In Jesus Name ~ Amen.

Amen. Oh, that I would have the openness of a child and the wonder and inquisitiveness of the wide-eyed little ones.
ReplyDeleteCaring through Christ, ~ linda
Don't you love that we can be inquisitive in our faith? Our Father just waits with open arms, ready to sit with our questions, concerns, hopes, and fears.
DeleteI love Him so!
Oh such sweet innocence radiating from the soft smile of a little one - it makes me envious every time for unblemished moments of childlike faith. The light shines without effort.
ReplyDeleteThank you for blessing us with this beautiful reflection, Linda.
The kids sure show us how to live, how to believe ... no wonder Jesus reprimanded those who would have kept the little ones from His knee.
Delete'Unblemished moments.' I love that, Pat ...
Sabbath blessings, friend.
Sweet photo! Yes, to have our childlike wonder, joy and trust in God restored!
ReplyDeleteRestored! Yes, Elizabeth! You've reminded me of what the Psalmist said in chapter 51, 'restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.'
DeleteThanks for adding to this conversation ... it's good to see you again!
"If you live squinty-eyed..." What a striking, vivid metaphor for greed and distrust. I'm so glad that God has graciously given me Son-glasses so I no longer have to squint in the light of His Truth!
ReplyDeleteWith gratitude to the One who made the eyes that only He opens,
HBHW
Yeah ... there's nothing like a squinty-eyed distrusting soul who calls herself a Christ-follower.
DeleteSigh.
Sadly, we've met more than a few along the way.
But the vision of you wearing those Son-glasses makes me smile big!
;-}
The wonder of a child! I love The Message--makes me think--yet again!
ReplyDeleteI hope this Sunday's shining big and bright for you, sabbath rest refilling your soul, Lulu ...
DeleteI love the Message and how it brings to light (see what I did there?) something new in a verse!
ReplyDeleteAnd that is the sweetest picture. :)
Yep, your light is shining, Sarah! I got it!

"wide-eyed childhood wonder" Yes! that's it, Linda. Praying in agreement with you, sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteCould be one of the many reasons I love being around my grandkids, June. They take me to that magical place ...
DeleteMy, we've become so jaded along the way ...
I'm not a Message person, but a Word person and a sharing person, and photo person, and ya dun good!!! This was a treat to see. Thanks much.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sticking with me even though THE MESSAGE isn't your thing, CaryJo. I'm glad you're finding little tidbits that keep you coming back and celebrating sabbath with me here!
DeleteMay you have the loveliest of weeks, friend!
Thank you, Linda, for food for the soul post. It's refreshing to start the week with such a beautiful reminder :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love serving up heaping helpings of soul food here, my friend. Thanks for kicking off a fresh new week with me ...
DeleteBlessings!
Love the message version of Luke. I pray we all can live in adoration of our precious Lord and thank Him daily for the beauty He so willingly shares. Blessings friend!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes! He alone is worthy of our lavish adoration and praise!
DeleteI hope you've had a really good weekend, Mary ... it's been a treat to visit back and forth.
