This is what I'm going to remember. This I'm going to do. Instead of dwelling on all that's gone wrong, everything that hasn't gone my way, disappointments and hurts and fears, I'm going to claim those words that the godly man wrote way back in the day.I'm going to remember what is true. Noble. Right and pure and lovely. Admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. Those are the things I'm going to reflect on. Immerse myself in. Speak about. Share with others. Because it's too easy to head the other way. Human nature being what it is. Self-absorbed. Negative. Cynical.
By His sustaining grace, I'm going to live this out. Day in and day out. Personally and professionally. The letter to the Philippians speaks to where I am, where we are. Today. In this generation.

Beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping by, April!
DeleteThat is my prayer also. If only I could write it on my heart and see everything through it's lenses! So good!
ReplyDeleteYes, Paula ... these are the healthiest, wisest lenses in which to view life. Now to take off the pessimistic, glass-is-half-empty viewfinders ... and toss them away - permenantly!
DeleteI have been pondering these same words. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYes ... and seeing them in black and white's a pretty powerful sight, isn't it!
DeleteSuch beautiful things to remember! Enjoyed my visit from the Five Minute Friday!
ReplyDeleteBarbie - I always enjoy seeing your name and picture show up! Love having you visit us here ...
DeleteI pray that we can all remember all the good and if the bad memories do come that we learn to use them to move forward for the good.
ReplyDeleteYep, Amy, the bad memories will float in and out. But the more we choose to focus on things that are beautiful, sooner or later the bad stuff will find it harder to find a chair and stay awhile ...
DeleteI love that we were both on the beach!
ReplyDeleteYou KNOW there's nowhere else I'd rather be, right, FireFly Girl?

Beautiful post! Amen to Philippians 4:8 - though it is difficult to do that sometimes - because I don't pay attention, forget or ...whatever. Thanks for reminding us.
ReplyDeleteThanks also for your comment on my blog and post!

Thanks for coming by, Mel!
I love your thoughts and I love your picture. We're still feeling wintery here even though the calendar says "spring". I've been longing for the beach and warm sand between my toes. Thank you for stopping by my blog. I appreciate your encouragement.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for sandy feet again! I so appreciate your encouraging words, my online friend ...
DeleteBeyond lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Denise ... truly!
DeleteWell done!
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder
Appreciate your words, Calypso Girl!
DeleteI love this! Such an inspiring declaration- live in the positives because it's too easy to go the other way. We CAN be self-absorbed and it's our job to look the other way. Good post!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you stopped by this afternoon, Brie!
DeleteOh I needed to read this! A great post, thank you
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Ruth ...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great verse to put with 'remember'...
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing you, girl ... I'm hearing you!
DeleteI love that verse, Linda. I memorized it years ago along with several others and it's one that really stays with me when some others don't. I am with you on focusing daily on this pursuit! Thanks so much for linking up and encouraging Heather! I really appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteYes, Beth, let's stay focused on this together!
DeleteI love that you are praising God with your arms to the heavens !! What a great photo!! Love beaches...
ReplyDeletemmm ... yes, it looks that way, but in reality, I was tossing bread to the wind for the seagulls, who somehow didn't make it into the shot. {Check out the very last line after my name for the explanation ...} But, yes, I am absolutely praising Him no matter what!
