The first Christmas was perfectly timed. Galatians 4:4 says, "But when the right time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, subject to the law." (NLT) What is "the right time"? God ordered world events so that everything was ready for Jesus' coming and the subsequent outreach of the early church.
Politically - The Roman Empire was at its zenith. Rome gave the world great roads which meant speedy travel for the new missionaries of the Gospel; a relatively good system of government, and peace without visas, border disputes and warring countries. For the first time, people could travel in peace with the gospel almost anywhere in the then-known world.
Culturally - The world was unified in language: either Greek or Latin. Everyone knew Koine Greek - the language of the New Testament. No translators were needed to spread the Gospel.
Spiritually - There was a renewed interest in Scripture; all religions were tolerated; Christianity would be listened to and considered by all.
As Paul said, Jesus came at just the right time. God's timing is always perfect!
I wonder what He is doing in your life today - you can count on the fact that He will never be either too early or too late.
