Awaken Love * The Giveaway

There have been love songs tenderly, passionately woven since the beginning of time.  Penned and sung from one lover to the other.  An all encompassing web spun of emotionally laden words that captures our hearts, our bodies, our minds, and every ounce of our affectionate attention.

Intensely intimate, powerfully sweet, sometimes raging with crazed passion, oft' fearful of rejection and abandonment.  And yet, somehow, always interlaced with hope.
There was King Solomon's story, a whole book focused on desire and intimacy.  Part of the bigger story of love and redemption that we as believers claim, even though we're not quite sure what to do with his Song, those chapters that speak longingly, boldly, candidly right in the midst of Old Testament words.
And then a little movie quietly came on the scene this fall.  About love and marriage ... and adultery, reconciliation, and redemption.

Now the filmmakers have developed a 6 week devotional book for couples to work through together.
Based on The Song of Solomon, I know no better way to start 2015 with your spouse than spending time journeying toward something deeper and more substantial together.  It might be awkward at first if these kinds of conversations haven't been part of the weaving of your marriage.  But this is one stocking stuffer that could help breathe sparkles of life back into your relationship and add a much-longed for spiritual dimension to your commitment to each other.
I've got one copy of this slender little volume to give away to a reader who leaves a comment on this post by Tuesday, December 2nd at 9 am {eastern}.  US and Canada only.  And be sure to check out all the AWAKEN LOVE resources ... all kinds of cool curriculum, kits, outreach and event ideas to awaken some healthy marital love at your church.

  1. "oft' fearful of rejection and abandonment. "
Not all our stories have a happily ever after ending---BUT
HE never rejects or abandons any of us---PRAISE HIM!
Looking forward to seeing who wins this book and hearing their story, Linda.
Please do not put my name in your hat--but I am thankful for your ministry to marriage!
    Blessings, Friend!

    1. Dear friend ... I always think long and hard before publishing any kind of marriage post because so many of my friends, clients, and readers have experienced that rejection and abandonment and I do not want to add more pain to their wounds.

That you have come here and offered such lovely grace to others even though your happily ever after ending has not come to pass ... well, that shows the depth of His kindness and compassion shining through your soul.

May He continue to bring a healing touch to those tender places, sweet Lulu.

  2. Well I must go check out this movie and the devotional sounds wonderful. We are slowly making our way through The Love Dare still. I think hubs struggles with it some as he thinks it's more for couples whose marriage is in trouble. But I try to remind him how we were once there and remembering God's truths and promises will help us not land there again. I love how he's so willing because he loves me. As Lulu said, thank you for your ministry to marriage!
    Much love, Linda.
Once again, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    1. I love THE LOVE DARE! I recommend it to my clients ... and even though my own marriage is in a very good place, I might just give it a whirl come the new year. For we're only kidding ourselves if we think there's never room for improvement. That would be a lie!

Grateful you're here, always bringing salt and light to the conversation, Beth ...

  3. Linda,
Sounds like a movie to see...always appreciate redemption :) Wishing you and yours a blessed and happy Thanksgiving :)

    1. Yep, redemption's song is the one I want to keep on singing. I know you feel the same, Dolly.

Thanksgiving joys to you and your family. I am grateful you are part of this community, friend!

  4. The devotional sounds wonderful. It's been awhile since Jeff and I have read through one together, but whenever we have, it's been such a blessing. Happy Thanksgiving, Linda!

    1. You know, Lisa, I seldom if ever hear of a couple that really enjoys a regularly scheduled devotional time together. I'm not sure why that is ... or what we can do to change that up.

Meanwhile, I'm grateful for your influence in my life, and your steady present wisdom here. Thank you, thank you.

  5. Sounds like a lovely movie! I will need to check it out! As for the devotional, I love that they have paired that with the movie. Some lucky couple should be blessed with this to get their new year started off right. Hugs friend!

    1. You're such a sweetie, girl! Thanks for encouraging all who get to interact with you, no matter what their marital status.

I'm so thankful that the Lord {and Beth!} brought us together this year. I'm blessed by you. Greatly!

  6. Hmmm...something happened. You may get a partial comment from me. I hope not.

At any rate, I wanted to say that this sounds like a lovely marriage resource.

If I may, I would like to ask for your prayers. Things have gone, physically, from difficult to dreadful.

I hope that you and yours have a wonderful, safe, and fulfilling Thanksgiving.

    God bless you.

    1. Dear Lord ~

We hold our friend Andrew up to You. Only You know what he is struggling with in his body. Free him from pain and fear. Please hold him close to Your loving heart and give his mind and heart peace. In his illness, bring him hope.

      For Jesus sake.

  7. Hi Linda! What a lovely resource to give away. You are doing such a service for your readers...but why is that a surprise? You always do generous things like this.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday my friend. May your table be surrounded by joy, love and peace. And know that I am so grateful for your blog-friendship and support. I will remember you in my Thanksgiving prayers.
    Blessings always,

    1. Yes, yes, fine friend! I am grateful for that joy, love, and peace He brings. Where would we be without Jesus?

May your celebration bring you great gratitude and a whole new batch of wonderful memories ...

Welcome to the table, friend!

This is where we gather and hang out. I'd love for you to pull up a chair and jump right into the conversation. Or simply say 'hello.'

l'll be dropping in to visit you sometime soon ...
