'Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.'
Hebrews 10:23-25
Cozy house church or grand medieval cathedral. Cutting edge storefront or traditional venue with pew after polished pew. Simple thatched roof hut. Contemporary megachurch. Or outdoor's magnificent starlit arena.
Wherever.
The venue's not important. It's all about the worship of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. And a heartfelt, sincere love for each other that weaves us together tight. A miraculous creation these bonds are, beautifully knit with strands of deeply craved grace and mercy undeserved.
This is His sacred community. This is where He makes His home.

where ever two or more are gathered :-)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. And I'm glad you are with us here this afternoon, my FireFly friend!
DeleteDear Linda
ReplyDeleteI agree! A venue is of no importance; only that strong bond of unity and love in the sweet Holy Spirit. That is what "makes" us church.
Love to you XX
Mia
I love the diversity of the Body and the unity that the Spirit gives! Thanks for dropping in this evening, Mia!
DeleteThanks, Linda, for reminding us that church is not about the building. It is so much more than that. I hope you had a blessed time fellowshipping with your family!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a week it was, my friend!

Wonderful picture of precious memories. I'm so thankful that worshiping the Lord isn't confined to a specific location. Wishing you a blessed Sabbath!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anne! I'm loving my dad's old slides, which have been scanned and preserved online for those generations that are following him ...

Oh yes, where two or three come together, He is in their midsts. Thanks for linking up with The Weekend Brew!
ReplyDeleteHave a good one, Barbie ...
DeleteI love the reminder that He does make His home in us and with us. I'll remember that as I allow Him to prepare my heart for our women's Bible study this fall. It's so easy, in all the preparation and the excitement and joy of being together again, to forget that not only is He the One whose words we study but that He is dwelling there among us.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe that fall is just around the bend, Cheri! And that you are preparing your heart now for what God will teach you is a beautiful gift to Him and to those you'll be sharing with ...
DeleteSuch a beautiful reminder, Linda!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping in this afternoon, Dina!
DeleteAmen! You are so right church is not at all about the building!
ReplyDeleteHouse church has taught me that {and so much more!} in recent years ...
DeleteSweet fellowship! :)
ReplyDeleteFor sure ... way back in the day and right here, right now!

This remind me of Martha Munizzi's song, "God is Here." Venues mean nothing to the God who is everywhere at all times. Hearts and minds knit with His do matter to Him. Have a great week, Linda!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alison. I think we've all had the experience of getting too caught up in the myriad of venues/buildings/programs/logistics and have neglected the heart-2-heart relationships that truly define our faith ...
