Got About 9 Minutes This Weekend?

When all is said and done, if you asked me what my all-time top 5 songs were, OCEANS would be right in there.

No question!

That its poignant lyrics have been paired with these glorious images {the waves, the lighthouses, the sunsets!} is such delight to this ocean lover.  In recent months, my soul's been reminded continually of the beautiful grace of an intimate love relationship with Christ that's dependent and trusting, no matter what's going on around me.

You too?

I'd love to sit together and spend a bit of time with you right about now.  Wouldn't that be so cool?  But since that's not quite possible, I'm sharing this beauty of a video, praying even as we speak that it will be an effective springboard to a beneficial, sacred quiet time for each one who gathers here.

So ... go ahead and claim the solitude your weary soul's been craving.  Grab your Bible, find a comfy chair, and pour a glass of something cool to refresh your body.  Savor the awesome sights and claim the powerful words of OCEANS as your very own prayer.  Breathe deeply and let your soul be nourished as you reflect on Matthew 14:22-33.

This is time well spent, being drawn to our Savior.  Worshiping Him, leaning hard into His loving embrace, soaking up the holy truths of His Word.  And then instead of rushing off to the next thing, choosing to sit still and quiet so we won't miss that very personal word He longs to whisper to each of His beloved children.

I don't know where you are right about now, but be sure He's going to keep calling you and me out on that water, that great unknown where feet may fail.  For He's always inviting us to something deeper, isn't He.

May our faith be made stronger in the presence of our Savior ...

P.S.
Be sure to click on the little widget thingy on the bottom right of the video.  Full screen {and full volume!} is always best, isn't it?

And if this little offering has impacted you, please feel free to share this post with your friends.  The links are below.

  1. Isn't that interesting! I was listening to that exact song yesterday and thought of you, Linda! I was thinking of sending you that link. Lo and behold, here it is! I love listening to beach waves as white noise to lull me to sleep. What a blessing you are to me!

  2. Dear Linda! I love the song "Oceans" too and listening to it is like listening directly to God speak into my heart. You are right that we both seem to be hearing similar things from God in our lives right now and the verses from Matthew are near and dear to me as you read over at Barbie's. They will just not let go of me and I know God is still teaching me all I need to know from these verses. Thank you for being you and praying you through your storms right now.

  3. Our church sings this and every time we do, it thrills me so much, Linda! It's no surprise to me that you would love this song. And wow! The photography or videography (sp?) is so incredible! Such a great aid to my time of worship today. I do hope you have a great week and that you feel Christ's nearness at every turn, my friend!

  4. "Dependent and trusting" that's where I need to be, where I want to be, but as those waves get higher and the waters are evermore troubled, that trust is harder to solidify. I appreciate your post. Thank you.

    1. Yes, yes, I hear you, my friend. And I figure if Peter, one who knew and loved Jesus face to face, struggled, it's ok if we do, too ...

Like Doubting Thomas, we're in good company.

  5. I LOVE this song, Linda. I bought it on iTunes a few months ago for my phone. I've listened to it every morning in the car, sometimes more than once. I kid you not: I cry every single time. It moves me deeply. One of the reasons is it's one of the first worship songs my daughter started singing when she found her faith again not long ago. She posted a video of her singing a clip of it on Facebook and it blew me away. Needless to say, this song will always hold a special place in my heart :).

    1. Your prayers mean the world, Lisa. Thank you so much. Grief just doesn't vanish quickly, does it ... it lingers long, 3 steps forward 2 1/2 steps back. And He remains close with every turn of the tide.

  14. Silly blogger has been making it so hard for me to leave a comment lately. It's an issue on my end. BUT I had typed a comment saying how much I adore you and how often I think of you and oh how I pray for God to bring us the opportunity to meet in person one day soon. You are very much in my thoughts and prayers. Love you, dear friend. And love that song! xoxo

      Sigh.

But I SO appreciate that you tried, tried again, my friend. You make me smile. And your prayers mean the world. And who knows when / if we'll get to meet in person. How cool would that be!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for being a faithful friend!

    1. Aren't those the best, most refreshing choices we make when we choose to be in solitude and silence with Him?

      Amen, girl!

  16. Solitude in Him is the most rejuvenating way to spend time, it is the most profitable way to let our hearts be held gently and securely. The song has such a gentle melody and poignant words. A great way to start the morning with worship!

    1. You're right, Dawn! What a way to start the day! God uses music to touch somewhere deep. And just to think that He rejoices over us with singing!

      How cool is that ...

No wonder we love Him so.
