What's for Breakfast? ~ A Giveaway

Maybe about once a month or so, we sleep in on a Saturday morning.  Late.  Then roll out of bed and head out to the old white pickup for a bit of a leisurely run into town, six miles away.  We might stop at the post office, then head to the dump to drop off the trash.  A quick drop in at the library might be in order and then we tool up the road to the hardware store {no pun intended}, where there's always something that the man needs to help him fix / paint / build / construct one thing or another.

And then the highlight of our lazy hour of errands?  Breakfast at Dunkin' Donuts.  I'm a cheap date. What can I say?

And this, my friends, is my newly discovered favorite breakfast sandwich.  Actually, it's the best homemade-tasting fast food I've had in forever ... a Southern Style Chicken Biscuit.

Can you say yum?

We don't have alot of Southern style anything here in New York's Mid-Hudson Valley.  And yes, yes, it's a bit heavy on the fat and calories, but if you're eating healthy most days, you'll be ok and you probably won't even need to eat again til suppertime.  I loved it so much that after I savored every tasty bite, I headed back up to the register and picked up a $10 gift card to share with one of our readers.

'Cause if we live too far away to meet for brunch, this is the least I can do.

So ... What's your favorite breakfast?  Leave a comment on this post by Thursday, August 28th at 9 a.m. {eastern} and you'll be in the running for this little gift.  {Sorry, US only.}

I can't wait to hear what you're digging into in the a.m.!

  1. I like your style!
My husband and I have a breakfast date once a week after the girls get on the bus. Undivided attention and it is cheap! Chick-Fil-A, Dunkin Donuts, or this other donut shop. Mmmmm now I am hungry :)

    1. Oh yeah ... Chick-Fil-A makes a mean chicken biscuit, my daughter just reminded me over the phone. Sadly, there's none around these parts.

I love that post-bus date idea, Sarah!

      Cool!

  2. Oh I've never tried this sandwich before, and it looks tasty. I'd love to meet up with you for brunch over this sandwich! My favorite breakfast? Coffee... Sadly.

      Someday on heavenly shores, yes?

  4. Strict budget prohibits going out for breakfast.....sigh......but Mike makes a mean egg, bacon and cheese sandwich on a hard roll. A big mug of coffee and my prime hammock chair on the screen porch and it's almost better than going out! Almost..........:-)

    1. Yep ... nothing beats a bacon and egg sandwich. I like mine on one of those fiber-heavy english muffins. Throw some spinach on it and I begin to feel like I'm eating healthy! And let's hear it for men who make their women breakfast.

And serve it in bed ... or on the porch!

  7. Brunch from afar-what a great idea! I love a McDonalds sausage biscuit with egg if I'm traveling or anything from Chick-Fil-A's breakfast menu but most days it is yogurt or hard boiled egg or I make some wonderful healthy wheat bran blueberry pancakes. So good! Now I'm thinking about breakfast. I wonder what I'll have tomorrow???

  8. That sound like such a wonderful day, especially riding in the old white pickup :). I love old trucks. That chicken biscuit looks so good. I didn't even know Dunkin Donuts had those. How sweet of you to think to grab a gift card for your online friends, Linda. I love breakfast but am usually too tired to cook. If I do though, an omelet is probably at the top of my list. And a latte beside it!

    1. A bowl of Cheerios is usually my breakfast of choice. And in the winter's chill, a hot bowl of oatmeal with milk and raisens.

And those omelets make the best suppers ... especially when you get to use up leftovers in them!

Sleep deep tonight, Candace ... and may tomorrow's dawn find you peacefully rested.

  9. What a fun peak into your life, Linda. And the breakfast - just plain decadent. I am the world's most boring eater. You've inspired me to loosen up and enjoy a yummy Saturday morning once in a while :)) Cheers to YOU!

    1. Yeah, I've gotten to be a boring eater and an uninspiring cook.

      Sigh.

That's one of the {many} reasons I love my friends so much -

  10. I actually love Dunkin Donuts. They have good coffee. :) My favorite breakfast lately is 1/2 a bagel with peanut butter on it. Basically, just give me carbs and I'm good. This was fun!! xoxo

  11. I'm not much of a breakfast eater since I get up at 4 and am out the door no later than 5. I don't drink coffee either. I do like cereal (chocolate anything with chocolate milk...yeah I know). There is a Mexican lady in the church who makes me tamales which I will heat up for breakfast at the office. Other than that an energy bar or two during the morning keeps me going. Thanks for visiting my blog Linda!

  14. My favorite breakfast? It depends, but in general I'd say oatmeal with cranberries and honey. :-)
Yeah, that or a delicious donut from our local donut shop.

Just happened across your blog from wearethatfamily.com. Nice place you have here. ;-)
