Pure Light

'This, in essence, is the message we heard from Christ and are passing on to you: God is light,

pure light; there's not a trace of darkness in Him.

If we claim that we experience a shared life with Him and continue to stumble around in the

dark, we're obviously lying through our teeth - we're not living what we claim.

But if we walk in the light, God Himself being the light, we also experience a shared life with

one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, God's Son, purges all our sin.'
1 John 1 {The Message}

Draw us to the light, dear Savior.  Draw us to Yourself.  We long to live in that shared daily grace and complete fullness of joy that comes with being totally One with You and with each other.

In Jesus' Name ~ Amen.

  1. What joy, that through Jesus we have a "shared life" with God and with each other. We never walk alone. Hallelujah!

    Peace and grace to you, Linda, always,

    1. 'We never walk alone.' Yes, sweet lady, what a warm consolation to our souls.

  2. Linda,
    Seems you and I, writing at Lisha's, were both meditating on drawing near. Love the balm and blessing your words are.
    Peace and good to you in Jesus' name,
    Chelle

    1. Grateful for the lovely, healing balm His words are to us ... and our words are to each other.

      Sweet blessings to you, dear Chelle ...

  3. This is a tough passage isn't it. I think of those struggling with depression who may believe they are stumbling round in the dark. Or for those, like me, who know they do sin, again and again. So I am glad to read in James 5:15-16 'If they have sinned they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.'

    1. Oh, dear hurting friends who are suffering with depression. Jesus loves you so! I don't believe 1 John is talking about this illness, but the state of our hearts hardened by sin and the resulting stumbling around in the dark places where sin resides.

      Grace, grace to those who are suffering in emotionally dark places, but whose souls are yet miraculously hopeful and strong because of their faith in Christ ...

      I've been there, done that.

      Hugs.

    1. Two choices there, Lulu. Yes. Focus on the Light of the world. And turn our backs and say 'no way' to sin's ongoing seductive invitations.

      Blessings as we get ready for our blog hop on Tuesday! Can't wait to introduce you again to the community here!

  5. Oh how easy it is to step into the dark, into the world of depression and self-pity! I pray for myself and for all of us to stay close to The Light so we will shine brighter!

    1. Don't you just love when you discover that the Lord has laid something oh-so-similar on another one's heart? Her work somehow reflects your own, you each reflect His words and His heart in very distinctly individual ways.

      God is good ...

      Monday's most lovely blessings, Mary! And watch out! The blog hop you sent my way 5 weeks ago is making a re-appearance in the next 24 hours!

      ;-}

  8. Hi Linda! I think it is the longing of all Christians to lean into, live, and love the light. I really appreciate your prayer here. Help me to stop lurking in the familiar shadows where I think I belong. Help me to find and stay in your wonderful light!
    Happy Monday my friend!

  9. I so want to live every day in the light. I've already been bemoaning how the days are getting shorter already. I wish it could stay physically light much longer each summer. But at least I can keep the Light on inside. Thanks for this, Linda. Praying you have a blessed week!

    1. For sure, summer has been far too short, and I will miss summer's lingering sunsets. But, praise God, He does not change like shifting shadows. His light remains, bright and secure ...

  10. Thanks for sharing this, Linda! I'm immensely grateful for God's pure, breathtaking light. I've spent so much of my life in darkness, finding His light has been exhilarating. I still have my dark periods, but they are definitely fewer and farther between. I'm able to remind myself of "the sacrificed blood of Jesus" and forgive my past. Blessings to you!

  11. Oh that enemy of our souls wants to completely disable us with his lies that we are defined by our sins, that we are unworthy, that we can never be forgiven. I hate him so.

    Praise God that His forgiveness is a refreshing, flowing stream of life that washes us clean from all our sins!

    May He brighten your soul with His loving gaze this week, dear Candace ...!
