Keep an Eye on That Fruit

'Produce fruit
in keeping with repentance.

You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act.

Yes, just as you can identify
a tree by its fruit,
so you can identify people
by their actions.'
Matthew 3:8 {NIV}
&
7:16 & 20 {NLT}

    1. I hear you! Those words from His Word certainly have a way of inspiring, convicting, recalibrating ...

    3. Yes, June. Let's listen up. And allow the Spirit to convict us into some real hefty heart changes ...

  2. Not only beautifully captured but very thought-provoking and something to be constantly considered! A constant reminder when I see strawberries or the cutting board that I use all of the time - the "Fruits of the Spirit" need to be every day and every minute to be remembered and considered and followed!!!

    1. Kind of neat that we can glean some spiritual lessons even in the routine of prepping our meals, yes?

  3. Oh, that my fruit would be beautifully red and juicy that others would desire what I have in my heart and soul.

  5. Hi Linda! A real challenge. Can I produce good fruit? And if I can't, what has to change?

    I hope that someday I can say that I have done my best with what I've been given, and make a fitting gift to the Lord for what he has given me. That will be such good fruit!
    Thank you for your beautiful prayer for Amy and her weather issues. So generous of you...just like you to get right down to business and intercede!
    Blessings to you friend,
    Ceil

    1. Thanks, Ceil. I think these are good verses for us to use as we look in the mirror. They also are applicable when people are walking the path of forgiveness and wonder if/when there should be reconciliation with those who've wronged them.

      Anyone can say that they're sorry. I see that as planting the seed. But that seed takes time to germinate and needs to be faithfully nurtured and watered and cared for before any growth is seen above the surface.

      And after there appears to be life, it is often quite some time til fruit appears ... and then ripens to a point where it is healthy to partake of.

      My encouragement is to be very wise, very careful when considering reconciliation. We want to see fruit that is in keeping with repentence before we jump back into a relationship with both feet. There must be integrity between what is said and what is lived out ... and true healing takes time, space, and grace.
