It's Not About Me

"Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb,

when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness,

when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place,

when I said, 'This far you may come and no farther;

here is where your proud waves halt?'''
- Job 38:8-11

'God's sovereign knowing is so beyond our control and knowledge

that acting like we're his GPS or

like He's our personal valet is not just laughable but sinful ...

Nobody gets to counsel God.

Nobody gets to give God advice.

Nobody gets to straighten God's path.

No one.'
- Matt Chandler, The Explicit Gospel

    1. Hey Jody ... my husband and I are just getting to know Matt's writing as we meet with a small group of old friends on Friday nights. A good, substantial feast he brings to the table ...

I hope your sabbath is blessed with peace and rest ... and feasting, as well!

  4. So good to hear from you, Friend. I attended the "If" telecast at my local church yesterday and today. SO encouraged---this new generation coming behind us realize--It is NOT about us! Came away encouraged and blessed! Thankful for the blessing of like minded Believers such as you! Spring is coming!

    1. And oh how He wrestled with His Redeemer ... and in the process His faith became rock solid and he showed us all that's it's possible to come through the greatest of calamities with trust in God intact and vibrant.

Thanks, Judy, for coming by this weekend. And welcome to Creekside!

  7. Even creation needs healthy boundaries - I hadn't considered that. I am learning to see that nature/creation show me the same lessons he is trying to teach me:) Beautiful photo - and the quote - it lets me see that I am more full in healthy ways when I stay in the boundaries He sets! Thanks for sharing that message:)

    1. mmm ... all creation sure does testify to the deepest of spiritual lessons. And we're never done gleaning, discovering, learning the wondrous depths of who He truly is. Praise God for eternity coming!

And I thank Him for you, my faithful sabbath connection ...

  8. Love this Matt Chandler quote. Great reminder to all of us. I have to wonder how often I've tried to do these very things in my life. It is laughable. And regrettably, sinful. Thankful for God's grace today!
