Beckoning Quietude

'Quiet, everyone!

Shh!

Silence before God.

Something's afoot in His holy house.

He's on the move!'
- Zechariah 2:13

'In solitude we can listen to the voice of Him who spoke to us before we could speak a word,

who healed us before we could make any gesture to help,

who set us free long before we could free others,

and who loved us long before we could give love to anyone.'
- Henri Nouwen, Out of Solitude

  1. Oh my! LOVE this and so what I needed as I seek to be still with Him and wait for Him to move. BEAUTIFUL, Linda. I don't think I've ever read this scripture and really, truly loved this.

    1. Thanks for kicking this post off this evening, my friend! I loved the words you wrote about waiting for Him to move. That waiting room can be a hard place to find ourselves in ... we want so badly to grab hold of answers or direction ... and He keeps on whispering, 'peace, be still ...'

Have a wonderful weekend, Beth. I'll be headed over to your place on Tuesday night for Three Word Wednesday.

Such a stirring trio of photo, verse, and Nouwen's reflections. Love the long format, too. (Now that's some serious ice!)

    Thank you, Linda. He's moving!

    Gently,

    1. Ah yes, we've got some serious ice around these parts! There's been plenty of beauty hanging off overloaded roofs ... but lots of damage to homes in the Northeast. Please Lord, would you like to bring us springtime just a bit earlier this year?

Thanks for adding your always striking writing to the mix here tonight, HBHW!

    1. Nouwen surely is a wounded healer. His writings, his books stir deep. I love starting each day with his devotional readings. Do a little copy and paste to read and subscribe http://www.henrinouwen.org/daily_meditation_blog/

      I know you'll be blessed ...

    1. Yes they were! I do believe some eager little hands removed them from their winter home ... I'm so glad I captured and shared them before they were absconded with!

      {My that's some huge word so early on a Monday morning! Where'd that come from?}

Anyway, I hope you'll have a great week out in Nebraska, my friend ... may your journeys here and there be safe and short!

Welcome to the table, friend!

This is where we gather and hang out. I'd love for you to pull up a chair and jump right into the conversation. Or simply say 'hello.'

l'll be dropping in to visit you sometime soon ...

Linda
