Random Mid-Winter Musings

1.  When it's cold, it's cold.  Doesn't matter if it's 10 degrees above or 10 degrees below or what the wind chill factor is.  To me?  It's simply frigid.  Period.

2.  You just can't beat a few great bird feeders right outside your window.  Watching little winged creatures come and dine, fly off and return with their nearest and dearest .. and then argue over the best seats in the house?  Just too fun.

3.  I want to pray like my 3 year old granddaughter.  I hear that one recent bedtime litany was an endless conversation about wearing rings, that they were sparkly but she couldn't wear them to bed because she would poke her eye out.  That's what I call a heart-to-heart encounter with the Lover of her little soul.

4.  The best antidote for the winter blahs?  Getting out of the house and meeting up with a good friend.  Letting your hair down while slouching in those cozy red leather chairs at Panera's with a hot mug of honey-laden tea is a wonderful respite.  A little retail therapy doesn't hurt, either.  Especially if you don't open your wallet.

5.  Things I am SO DONE with include long car trips careening down icy roads surrounded by maniac drivers chatting on cell phones.  Just let me stay home.

  2. I'm just a little taken by that starfish...ummm, wow! And I live 25 miles south of Houston and we have just had a winter ice storm here...nothing probably compared to the rest of the U.S. but for us here a nightmare...people...people....are just nuts...driving and getting stuck on roads and not being able to get up an overpass. Yep, I'm at home today too!

    1. Oh, she's a beauty, isn't she! And nothing beats a brisk walk on an isolated winter beach. But a starfish like that? I've never seen anything close!

And, yes, Kim, these are the days to cherish being home ...

Welcome to Creekside! I'm delighted you stopped in!

  7. Hi Linda! Boy, you were reading my heart loud and clear. I was working this morning, and then just ran out to Target just to get out! It's been so beastly here, I'm tired of staying in doors. I looked at all the pretty things, and ended up buying a CD of relaxing music. A little treat!

Love the pop of color in the starfish. Are there really starfish like that?
Have a good weekend, and stay away from those crazy drivers! I need you safe and sound so I can keep visiting you :)
    Blessings,

    1. Yep, let's stay home safe and sound and warm tonight, Ceil. And I LOVE Pandora for great, relaxing music - FREE! I think it's about $36 a year for no commercial interruptions. I've got it playing at home and also in the counseling office. Soothing it is.

    1. You are so kind, Rose. The lessons our little ones teach us about loving God are always significant ... and much deeper than they'll ever know. And they often serve as a much needed wake-up call on our end.

  11. Don't you love how things that seem random to us are not random to our infinitely complex God?

Kind of like that starfish (and may I add, what a stunning photograph that is?!). Those colors were chosen on purpose! As if artists were the ones who invented the theory of complementary colors... Nope; the Great Artist did!
