Redeemed . Reclaimed . Remade

He hisses in the ugliest of tones.  He is the enemy of our souls, that fallen angel who now presides over the darkest abyss.  He wants nothing more than to pull us back to our ugliest days, our most traumatic nights, to define us by our greatest sins, most sickening shames, and the encompassing addictions that menacingly threaten to pull us right over the edge.  All the bone-headed choices, the patterns of the sins of the fathers, every wayward thought and poorly conceived decision.  The anxieties and the fears that grab hold tight, that endlessly taunt and keep us stuck in time.

The lies.  The lies.

Finally exhausted and more than done with it all, we come to the end of ourselves and say, 'no more. No way.'

We choose to join hearts with God and His people.  We say 'yes' to His beautifully bountiful invitation, gazing squarely into the radiant mirror of His love where we see our true redeemed nature.  We discover that yes, we are beautiful in the eyes of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ.  That we are now cleansed and empowered by His grace and majesty, held in His arms, safely and securely.  Defined by His lovely image and His perfect design, we can begin to soar high.  Because of who He is, we are glorious, radiant, spotless.

 Saved, redeemed, transformed.

Beautiful, holy, righteous we are.  We've been reclaimed.  Remade.

Saved.

  3. This is just beautiful!! Yes, that enemy will stop at nothing to totally paralyze us with his lies, but, and this is a BIG BUT; we have the Truth living in us who never condemns us even when we are wrong. He only convicts and that in a gentle way.
    Blessings

    1. God isn't the author of the guilt trip ... but out of His great love, convicts of specific sin with clarity, persistence, and gentleness.

A blessed weekend to you, dear Mia!

  7. Every time I hear the song from Tenth Avenue North I tear up. For so many years I've believed the lies that I wasn't good enough, damaged goods, etc. So thankful for His redemptive and restoring power!

  8. (Clearing my throat,) "No more, no way!"

Thanks for these words, Linda, and another great music video. Watching those chalk "tatoos" being washed away, as if by God's own tears . . . What a picture of His Grace.

"It's not about what you've done, but what's been done for you."

    With a grateful "Amen!"

  9. Linda, I've been scouring my old journals and this is a tough task because I often wrote in those when I was struggling. So I gather memories of the hard, messy times in my past and have the tendency to feel discouraged and sad because of it. But God has been so good because alongside that, He is really reminding me of His love for me in spite of my past mistakes and messiness. Yes, we are so loved by Him and that's what I hope everyone realizes when they read your words today. Great encouragement, my friend!

    1. Funny, Beth, I was leafing through my first journals last week, too. And it wasn't long til I thought, 'I've had about enough of THIS!' I'm in a far different place now than I was back then, and it wasn't at all helpful to go back to a season of illness and pain and discouragement.

Sometimes we've just gotta shut the door on that other time, that other place and do the Philippians 4 thing, focusing on the bounty of what's lovely and true and right and noble and excellent and praiseworthy.

Always love when you come by for a visit, my friend ...
