Plain & Simple

'He's already made it plain how to live, what to do,
what God is looking for in men and women.

It's quite simple:
Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,

And, don't take yourself too seriously -
take God seriously.'

- Micah 6:8 {The Message} -

  2. Have to confess I don't really like The Message translation, but this was good. Take God seriously. I like it.

    1. And to stop taking ourselves so seriously all the time. Lighten up, gang, lighten up!

  3. You go girl in those shape-ups! Don't we really make God's ways all too complicated, when it most often is to just keep walking in His path!

    1. And the mis-matched socks are a whole other story, Elizabeth ... really. HINT - they're no fashion statement!

    1. Marty - yes, The Message is often the eye-opener we need when reading verses that have become all too familiar!

  5. Visiting from Deidra's. I love this. I'm reading through the Message for the first time now. It is a refreshing change of pace.

And this verse? It is the one I will forever associate with my mother. Thank you.

    1. I hear you about associating a verse with your mom. Jeremiah 29:11 is my own mom's favorite. Priceless Scripture, yes?

Thanks for dropping in this afternoon, Sheila!

  7. Did you put those socks on in the dark, Linda? haha! I need that reminder because too much of the time I take myself and what's going on around me too seriously. I carry a burden that was meant to be left at my Savior's feet. (And even He might not try to match His socks!) Love you, this truth and the translation you've highlighted, friend!

    1. Well, yes ... and no ... and kinda! And horrified a few hours later when I looked down at my mismatched feet. Oh, so stylish!

  8. Love these verses. Your photo reminds me of one I took last year - me looking down at my simple but dearly loved slipper socks!

  9. I do so love this and my couple days delay in stopping by must have been what He intended as I needed this reminder today. Your photo made me smile! Blessings to you.

    1. Don't you love God's timing, Beth ... even exactly the perfect moment when we read something that makes a difference? Ah ... the power of His Word!

Welcome to the table, friend!

This is where we gather and hang out. I'd love for you to pull up a chair and jump right into the conversation. Or simply say 'hello.'

l'll be dropping in to visit you sometime soon ...
