Guarding Priceless Treasure

Some of us are way too quick to trust.  We eagerly give pieces of ourselves away before the recipients have proven themselves faithful and worthy of this priceless treasure, this gift that we so oft' casually toss to the wind.  We lay ourselves bare, in desperate attempts to be loved, valued, esteemed, validated, affirmed, somehow accepted.

God knows.  That's why He tells us to guard our hearts, because they are our life's wellspring.

And the hard truth is that some of us would be better off keeping our emotional clothes on alot longer.

Five Minute FridayHe's the only One we should be quick to bare ourselves to.  And let everyone else prove themselves faithful and true, wise and worthy before we share the intimacies of our souls.

Guard your heart, your mind, your body well, dear friend.

  1. Great post babe, yes so true. I agree with you, too often youth and even adults look for love and peace with the wrong people. If they only bared their souls to God, let him in and allowed themselves to love themselves, they would find the people that truly love them.

  2. For sure, it's all about looking to Him and finding what we're yearning for in the safety of His love. And that strong security will wisely enable us to discover people that are safe for us.

Thanks for dropping in this morning!

  3. Excellent advice!!! Wish I got this straight 40 years ago cause I would have saved myself a lot of pain.

This reminds me if a book I read called Women Who Love Too Much. What an eye opener that book was for me and it started me on a journey of guarding my heart.

Keep those words of wisdom coming, pal

  4. Thanks for sharing that great resource, Carol!
