300 Seconds on Fear

Five Minute FridayWhen fear comes to call, he is not a gentleman.  He is an ugly companion who forces his way in to our hearts and minds during our most vulnerable times, taking up what looks to be permanent residence when not welcomed.  He makes himself at home, settling deep in.  His intent is not to leave, but to hang around for as long as possible.  What he really wants to do is run the show, call the shots, orchestrate the whole concert that is our lives.

He victimizes, mesmerizes, disturbs, paralyzes.  This ugly taskmaster steals joy, confidence, peace, and sanity.  His relentless, constant companionship keeps us from making good decisions, wrecks our relationships, kills our health, and renders us impotent to do anything more than simply .  be  .  afraid.

God has not given that spirit of fear.  He gives power, love, and a sound mind.  He gently whispers, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'

Be comforted.  Be assured.  You are not alone, God is on your side and will help you show fear the door and kick him straight to the curb.  Do this as often as he comes slinking back toward your heart.  Because you truly can embrace decision making and life itself from a place of confidence and love.

God's perfect love casts out all the ugliness of fear.  You have the power to refuse that uninvited evil guest and he will wander off again, preferably to the far away abyss where he belongs.

  2. Oh Lizzy, it sure is easy to forget what is true and get wrapped up in the tyranny of whatever's right in front of us.

  5. Oh, so true - fear is not a gentleman. In any way, shape or form. Not only does he barge in, he takes over! Why do we allow him to visit?! We have the choice, power, option, and accessibility to the strength to tell him he is NOT welcome. Then close the door & continue building our friendship with a loving Heavenly Father. Thank you for this reminder, so well put.

  6. The women at Jesus' tomb 'were afraid, yet filled with joy'! I love that even though our emotions come and go that the fruit of the Spirit never leaves. Because He doesn't!

Thanks for sharing your heart, April ...

Welcome to the table, friend!

This is where we gather and hang out. I'd love for you to pull up a chair and jump right into the conversation. Or simply say 'hello.'

l'll be dropping in to visit you sometime soon ...

Linda
