Compelling Reflections

If you haven't been even slightly overwhelmed by all that's gone wrong in this world this year, you've been asleep at the wheel.  Incredibly destructive natural disasters, human depravity in all its horror, tragic wars and ghastly terrorism, endless political grandstanding, and the daily tribulations of life have all been spread out in black and white and living color for all of us to see.

But why are we surprised?  Jesus told us that we would have many trials and sorrows.

The Apostle Paul must have had a glimpse of what life was going to be like for us way back in the day when he penned the letter to the Philippians.  Because here's our only hope ... recalibrating, reframing, releasing all that is absolutely too much for us to bear.  And making choices, minute by minute, to respond in ways that reflect the strength and beauty of Jesus Christ to a dying world.

'Celebrate God all day, every day, I mean, revel in Him!  Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you're on their side, working with them and not against them.  Help them see that the Master is about to arrive.  He could show up any minute.

Don't fret or worry.  Instead of worrying pray.  Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.  Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down.  It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious - the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.  Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized.  Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into His most excellent harmonies ...'
~ Philippians 4 {The Message}

Your kindhearted musings come straight to me and then I post them. That's why you're not seeing them pop up right away! Blame it on way too much spam littering this sacred space.

You matter ... and you are welcome here, my friend.
